Welcome to Abercorn Place
Abercorn Place, where our 2½ to 5 year olds attend, is in a gracious Victorian listed mansion in a quiet tree-lined street.
It has been modernised to offer a high level of safety and efficiency without sacrificing any of its charm. Children react positively to the beauty of the surroundings, whilst you have the knowledge that they are in a safe and secure environment and are taught in classrooms that are bright and airy.
The private garden promotes outdoor learning to develop investigative skills and exploration; it’s covered with a soft surface to minimise any possibility of grazed knees and includes its own fort!
Most events of the School day take place in the main building, but there are additional facilities locally that are used to support our extensive curriculum.
At Abercorn pastoral care and development of children’s personal, social and emotional skills are the highest priority. The atmosphere is one of energy and enthusiasm, enabling children to establish a strong foundation for their educational journey over these formative years and onward.
Children follow the Early Years Foundation stage curriculum which encompasses seven areas of learning. These are implemented via a holistic approach in order to maximise child initiation and to develop the whole child. Class teachers are supported both by class assistants and specialist teachers in the subjects of French, Music, P.E. Gymnastics and Swimming offering a robust, varied and enjoyable beginning to the children’s first school years. Yoga has been recently added to the curriculum to help promote the children's sense of well-being.
