TOGS is a Grade II listed premises of the former Marylebone Grammar School (TOGS). Built in 1856, it features wood panels, arched doorways and stained glass windows.
The majority of our boys and girls move on from our EYFS site to the Pre-Prep. We also give the opportunity (subject to availability) for new children to join us, if they successfully complete a short internal assessment. There are no more than 20 children in each class with a highly qualified Teacher and dedicated full time assistant who form an integral part of our academic and pastoral care. Each child has a 'link book' which offers a daily form of communication between the Form Teacher and the parent.
Here at TOGS our children heave a varied and interesting weekly timetable which keeps them continously stimulated. Their Form Teacher covers all the Academic subjects such as Maths, English and Science and our very own specialist teachers teach them French, Music, Swimming and Sport, all of which they have at least once a week. The children enjoy a trip out during each term which can include theatres, art galleries and museums; they also get the opportunity to take part in workshops on site such as "Life in the Victorian Times". As a non-denominational school we introduce all the main world religons and recognise and celebrate all the major holidays. The children benefit from from variety of cultures and nationalities that make up Abercorn and gives them an awareness of the wider global community, which in turn encourages them to be friendly, tolerant and adaptable.
The children are divided into 4 houses, O'corner, Dickens, Thackeray and Victoria which encourages them to work as teams for the whole school, and gives them a sense of responsibility, loyalty and health competition.
There is a varied after school programme that including Chess, Taekwondo, Cookery, Dance and Drama as well as sports clubs for Swimming, Football, Hockey etc.
Many of our children join the school choir and play a variety of instruments - drums, violins, guitars and of course piano. Our children begin learning the recorder at Year one and they all continue to do so until Year 5 when they move on to the clarinet.
