On Thursday 26th January the Year 2's took part in the RSPB's Big Schools' Birdwatch. For one hour, between 10:10am and 11:10am, the children observed and recorded the different species of birds that either visited the garden or took food from the bird feeders. We placed seed, bread and berries on the ground for the garden eating birds such as Robins, Blackbirds, Wood Pigeons and Feral Pigeons. Our feeders helped attract a Blue Tit and Two Great Tits, and a Robin and Blackbird fed from the ground. The children observed in small groups of short, ten minute sessions and recorded the highest number of each species seen at any one time. Other birds observed were Feral Pigeons and Herring Gulls flying over. RSPB website to create a pie charts, bar graphs and pictograms.
