Akash has grown so much academically, socially, and emotionally under the care of your nurturing staff.”
Abercorn PlaceThe Abercorn Place site, where our 2½ to 6½ year olds attend, is in a gracious Victorian listed mansion in a quiet tree-lined street. It has been modernised to offer a high level of safety and efficiency without sacrificing any of its charm. Children react positively to the beauty of the surroundings, whilst you have the knowledge that they are in a safe and secure environment.
The garden is completely enclosed and covered with a soft surface to minimise any possibility of grazed knees. The front door is monitored by closed circuit television.
Most events of the School day take place in the main building, but there are additional facilities around the corner in Grove End Gardens. These have been designed to offer the specialised facilities required by our extensive curriculum.
The Old Grammar School (TOGS)The Old Grammar School (TOGS) houses our 6 to 10 year olds. TOGS, founded in 1792 with Royal patronage, was built in 1856 to house its increasing student body. Eminent past pupils include the author Jerome K. Jerome and the cricketer John Price. The school closed in 1981 and the building was thereafter used as office space. Abercorn purchased the premises in Autumn 2002 and is pleased to be able to return the magnificent Grade II listed premises to the original use of provision of excellent education. The children love the traditional, but comfortable ambiance of the structure, and refer to it affectionately as "Hogworts"!
A bus service in the morning and afternoon is provided between Abercorn and St Marylebone for those pupils who have a sibling at Abercorn or who are walking distance from Abercorn.
Classes for the oldest children (aged 11 to 13 years) take place in our school in Wyndham Place, W1. Being in this charming Victorian building enables students to concentrate on their studies with fewer distractions from the younger pupils. They start the day at St. Marylebone with an Assembly and then walk the short distance to Wyndham Place to continue their studies.
The sites together offer dedicated science laboratories and art/design technology studios, a computing centre, music practice rooms, a library with multi-media resources, and a kitchen and dining room.
