On Thursday 12th January, the Abercorn Football team went to the Barnet Power League Centre for the ISA North London 5-a-side Championship. The team was seperated into two groups, the oranges and the reds. The oranges were made up of Sam, Gafur, Ryan, Jack and Josh. Though the score lines went against the oranges some great performances were put in by all the players.
The Abercorn red team kicked off to a good start by winning 4-0 against Francis House with Oscar leading the line in his last performance for the school. Not only did the attack excel but so did the defence when the back two helped the goalkeeper in some difficult situations. Unfortunately, the Abercorn reds suffered three consecutive defeats despite playing to their best efforts, including a really unlucky 1-0 loss to Gatehouse, when the winning goal was scored in the dying seconds of the game.
In the final game of the group stages, we faced Daiglen. We won 2-0, including a stunning goal from half way by Santiago. Even though we did not get to the quarter finals, we played excellently, well done everyone!!

On 20th January, the Year 4 to 6 swim team competed in the second round of the London Independent School Swimming League. This gala was much the same as the first round, in that we competed against the same schools, at the same venue. The schools were Bute House and Latymer, and we competed at Bute House Swimming Pool. The difference, however, was that Abercorn swimmers showed that they have been working hard in training since the first round. The race was much closer than what they had been before, and our swimmers were challenging the opposition right up until the last stroke of each race.
There were meant to be two other school teams at the gala, but Jessie believes that they chose to withdraw when they heard Abercorn were coming! We want to say a big well done to the whole team, and want to make a special mention to those Year 4 swimmers who swam double the number of relay races to help Ryan in Year 5, who was the only swimmer in that year group.
Well done Gators!!! You have done us proud!!

Abercorn children performed a carol concert on 13th December at Marylebone Station which was a great success and all the children performed brilliantly. They all had a very enjoyable time and certainly entertained everyone.
The commuters were treated to our children singing carols to them and also by a breathtaking rendition of 'Oh Holy Night' by our Head of Music, Mrs Bath. The concert was put on all in aid of our continuing support of a chosen charity Help a Capital Child.
The last day of school was rounded off by a wonderful Christmas Fayre (also to raise money for HCC) which was amazingly successful. Our FOA ladies and gentlemen along with all the teachers who transformed the Abercorn Place site into a winter wonderland. Santa's grotto was a big hit with everyone along with the homemade bake sale which had everyones mouths watering - along with the mulled wine and hot chocolate! There were also book, toy, painting and jewellery stalls to mention a few along with arts and crafts activities along with some lovely traditional games such as Pin the Tail on Rudolph the Reindeer.
Everyone involved had a great afternoon and it was a huge success!
On the 28th November our Year 6 went to the National Army Museum in Chelsea. It was a great day, they learnt what life was like in the trenches, some of the real people who were in World War One and how to cock and fire a Lee Enfield rifle, a gun used in the Great War. They also spent time looking round the rest of the museum specifically at the Battle of Waterloo and the Iraq War. It was a great opportunity for them to learn about the British Army and the history of the organisation.
