Bute House: Swimming Gala

Swimming Sport

On Friday 10th October, the Abercorn Gators went to Bute House for our first swim meet of the year. We left Portland Place at 3pm and we arrived at our destination by 4pm. On the way there we found out that the FOA had sponsored us with t-shirts with the team’s name and logo on it, for which we are very grateful. We swam against 4 schools in this meet, and the first race was the individual medley, well swum by Ben. After that we all gave our best efforts into backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and then freestyle. While we were waiting to get into the pool, we were trembling like sticks, trying to cover ourselves with our warm towels.

We had so many things to remember when we got into the pool: while swimming backstroke, do not turn to your front when finishing the race, or in breaststroke do not let your two hands touch while swimming and remember to touch the wall with two hands to finish.

Well done to all the swimmers and especially to the swimmers that had not been to a meet before: Megan,Thanos, Chloe, Miles, Elliot, Phoenix and Gunnar. My favourite part was getting on the diving block and diving into the pool while hearing the roar of the audience.

Thank you to Mr Constance for organising the trip for us and thank you to Mr Chan for timing us. Thank you to both teachers and all the parents for supporting us.

It was a great experience for all of the Gators and we all can’t wait until the next meet.

Elisa

Captain of the Gators
