Abercorn Gators go to Regionals

Sport Prep

On Monday, 8 December, selected members of the Abercorn Gators swim team represented the school at the ISA Regional Swimming Competition which was held at Barnet Copthal Leisure Centre.

Abercorn School’s P.E. department hosted this event for the fifth year in a row and congratulations must go to Mr Doyle and his team for all the work they do in making this event possible.

The team that competed at the event were as follows:

Year 4 – Max, Joe, Thanos, Megan

Year 5 – Grey, Ivor, Simoné, Kavita, Mia, Sophie

Year 6 – Ben, Tommy, Hugo, Guilherme, Afrah, Georgia, Elisa, Ellen

Congratulations to them for their selection, and their effort and performance on the day. The team finished the day with thirteen medals in the bag, 3 golds, 1 silver and 9 bronze. Highlights of the day include a spirited 3rd place finish in the freestyle relay by the year 5 girls, and a 2nd place for ‘new boy’ Thanos in the breaststroke. A very well done to our first place finishers: Kavita for the breaststroke, and Ben for both the butterfly and freestyle. Kavita and Ben, together with younger brother Max have qualified for the London North team that will be competing at the ISA National swimming competition that will be held in the London Aquatic Centre in January 2015. Max will be part of the Year 4 Boys freestyle relay team. Well done to them!
