Abercorn Gators swim for charity
On Monday, 16 March 2015, the Abercorn Swim Team participated in a swimathon at Seymour Leisure Centre in support of Global’s Make Some Noise Charity.
Make Some Noise was previously known as Help a Capital Child, but since extending their help to disadvantaged youth nationally, a more appropriate name change happened with it.
The swim team have been hard at work finding people to sponsor them; either in a lump sum or per length that they swam. This gave them extra motivation to swim as many lengths as possible to maximise the sponsorship they would get. It was a great effort by every member of the team, who averaged 28 lengths amongst them. Ben did very well to swim 40 lengths of the 30m pool, and there were 7 other children who managed to swim more than 30 lengths in the 20 minutes.
On the following day, the swim team were treated to a party at Portland Place as reward for their efforts. Great thanks must go to the Friends Of Abercorn, especially Mrs Small and Ms Brooks, who together with Mr Constance, organised both the swimathon and the party.
