3 Gators represent at National Championships
On Saturday, 23 January, 3 swimmers from the Abercorn Gators Team represented London North at the ISA National Swimming Competition. They were Sofia G., Barnaby and Max. Well done to all of them for the great achievement of qualifying for this competition.
For the second year, the ISA National Championships were held at the London Aquatic Centre, where the London 2012 Olympic Aquatic events were held. This is an amazing venue and it is great to see that the Olympic legacy is being maintained through its venues being used regularly. Both competitors and spectators were very excited to be back inside this venue.
All the events for the Abercorn swimmers took place in the second session of the day. Max finished 4th in his first individual race at a national swimming championships in the Year 5 freestyle, having swum in the Year 4 relay last year, and winning the gold with his team then. Unfortunately his team could not replicate their form from last year, and finished 4th in their freestyle relay. Barnaby’s team finished 5th in their freestyle relay, and Sofia’s team finished 6th. It was a great experience for the two of them, being their first appearance at a major championship.
Well done again to all three our swimmers for representing our school and London North at National level.
