ISA National Swimming Championship 2017

Sports Swimming

The ISA National Swimming Championships was held at the London Aquatic Centre on Saturday, 21 January 2017. This iconic venue, home of the swimming and diving at the London Olympics in 2012, played host to this competition for the third time, and welcomed swimmers from different parts of the UK.

Six children from Abercorn were included in the London North team that competed at this event.  Max, Barnaby and Sofia were making a repeat appearance at this event, while it was a new experience for Omar, Leonardo and Jamal. Well done to them for making it to Nationals.

Notable performances include a fourth and fifth place finish for Omar in the individual backstroke and butterfly respectively. Sofia’s freestyle relay team did well to get silver. Leonardo struck gold early in the second session of the day in his freestyle individual race, and managed to do it again as part of the freestyle relay team. Congratulations Leonardo; Abercorn School’s second, double national champion, a feat he however accomplished on one night!
