Our Values & Ethos

Our Values

Fairness, Respect, Responsibility, Kindness, Curiosity and Determination

We value pupils as individuals with unique talents and interests. Together with parents, our shared vision is to develop well-rounded children with a strong sense of their own individual attributes and strengths. As a school, we prize the sharing of these talents so that our pupils will flourish in a spirit of openness and shared endeavour.

Our Ethos

Abercorn is a vibrant, nurturing and diverse school community which proudly supports, inspires and challenges all pupils to achieve their full potential.

Pupils and their wellbeing are at the heart of all that we do as we foster and develop their unique talents. Our children are kind, curious and confident individuals who are taught the skills needed to succeed in the future as global citizens and life-long learners.

We value the role of an active partnership with our families and recognise that this promotes the very best academic and pastoral outcomes for all.

Equality, Diversity & Inclusion

Abercorn aims to lead the way in educating young people of today about diversity and equality and, crucially, foster an anti-racist and anti-discriminatory culture.

Abercorn School aims to lead the way in educating young people of today about diversity and equality and, crucially, foster an anti-racist and anti-discriminatory culture. We recognise the importance of the role played by school in establishing these principles within children in their formative years and take proactive steps to ensure this learning and culture is prominent at Abercorn.

Our school values the individuality of all of our children, irrespective of race, ethnicity, religion or belief, attainment, age, disability, gender, gender reassignment, sexual orientation or background. We are committed to giving pupils every opportunity to achieve the highest of standards and do this by taking account of pupils' varied experiences and needs. We offer a broad and balanced curriculum, and have high expectations of all children. The achievements, attitudes and well-being of all our children matter and celebrating our diverse community is one part of this.

We do not tolerate any forms of discriminatory behaviour, including direct or indirect discrimination, harassment or victimisation. Should an incident occur, we will act immediately to prevent any repetition of the incident and do all we can to support that person in overcoming any difficulties they may have. All members of the School community are expected to be aware of and be part of this ethos, treating others with dignity at all times.
