Discover Lower School

Our pupils begin their journey in our Lower School from 2 years of age. Home to our youngest pupils in Nursery to Year 2, Abercorn Place in St. John’s Wood is the original school building which opened in 1987.

From Nursery to Year 2, Lower School is a vibrant, child-led environment, underpinned by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum, which seamlessly transitions into the National Curriculum of England in Years 1 and 2. In the EYFS, we plan provocations known as creative kickstarts to help develop and apply a range of skills. Learning is very cross-curricular so children can consolidate and apply learning concepts. This style of teaching and learning continues into KS1 and KS2 where the children access a creative curriculum ensuring that learning is meaningful and discovery based.

At our school, we recognise that every student is unique, and we aim to provide a nurturing environment where they feel safe, valued, and supported. We encourage our students to take risks, make mistakes, and learn from them, as we believe that this is how they can develop the resilience and perseverance that is so important for success in life.
