Admissions at Abercorn

Choosing a school is hard, but the admissions process doesn’t need to be! Our friendly team is here to help every step of the way as you explore your options and discover Abercorn.

From Discover Mornings to conversations with our team, we’re here to help you get a sense of life at Abercorn, and when you’re ready, to support you through the admissions process and welcome you to our school.

Our Admissions process is designed to be as simple as possible and aims to accommodate our local families and those joining from abroad or mid-way through the year (rolling). While most families join us in September and apply at least a year in advance, we are delighted to welcome pupils throughout the year where space is available.

Please look through the process below and don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions. We also welcome you to view our FAQs!

Step 1

Get to know Abercorn by making an enquiry, speaking to our team and joining an upcoming in person or virtual Discover Morning event.

We’ll make sure you have all the information you need to know whether Abercorn is a good fit for your family.

  • Complete our enquiry form to provide us with relevant questions about your child(ren) and family circumstance, and include any questions you may have.

We’ll respond quickly with information and next steps based on your family’s individual needs and where we are in the admissions cycle.

If you are unsure what year your child would be placed in based on their date of birth, you can check using our Year Group chart.

  • Our friendly team is here to help every step of the way as you explore your options and discover Abercorn.

You can book a Zoom call with our Admissions team here, where you will have the opportunity to discuss the admissions process and clarify anything you are unsure about.

Additionally, our team are available to speak with you either over the phone at 020 7286 4785 or via email, so please reach out if you are interested in finding out more.

  • Discover Mornings are a perfect introduction to life at Abercorn and we encourage all families to join us for a virtual and in-person Discover Morning, as these will give a great insight into our curriculum, and school life.

In-person Discover Mornings include a tour of our school and a chance to see our pupils and teachers in action, as well as offer an opportunity to hear from our Headmaster, Mr Hammond and our Head of Lower or Head of Senior School.

Step 2

Once you’re ready to apply for a place at Abercorn, we invite you to register here.

At Abercorn we are proud to welcome applications at any time, for the current, next or future years. Please note that tours are only offered to families looking to join the current school year, or those who have completed registration.

  • Registrations can be submitted at any point in the year, for any academic year.

A non-refundable registration fee of £100 is payable online at the time you submit the application, and we will acknowledge receipt of the registration via email.

  • Please note we can only accept applications after a child is born and we ask that a copy of the child's birth certificate, passport, and copies of parents' visas (if relevant) are provided either via the form or sent to admissions@abercornschool.com to complete the application.

Step 3

Once registration is complete, we will work with you closely as we process your application and reach a decision.

Please read the following sections carefully so you know what to expect.

  • Families applying for the current or coming academic year will be offered a 1:1 tour of either the Lower or Senior School (or both, if neccessary) led by the relevant Deputy Head, which is a rewarding though not required part of your admissions journey.

  • For our youngest pupils in the Lower School (Nursery to Reception), entry is non-selective and therefore no assessment is required.

However, we require children registering for Year 1 and above to undertake assessments that will examine their English and Maths skills before the offer of a place can be considered.

Assessments are age-appropriate and help us to get to know the pupil and ensure we can support them throughout their time at Abercorn.

Please know that we are able to conduct assessments both on-site and overseas, if the pupil is based overseas.

Find out more about assessments here.

  • In addition to assessments, we will require a copy of the child’s most recent school report.

We will also require a pupil reference from their previous school, therefore we ask parents to complete a consent to contact current school form so that we can obtain this.

  • The decision to offer a place is made by the Headmaster and takes into account assessment papers and supporting documents where applicable.

Places are offered 2-3 terms in advance of the desired entry date where possible. With a rolling admissions process we are also happy to consider offers throughout the year.

To accept a place parents are required to return the Abercorn Acceptance Form within the specified offer deadline date, and pay an acceptance deposit.

Find more information about school Fees. If you have any questions or concerns about payment options for our deposit and or tuition fees we encourage you to get in touch with our School Bursar, Mrs Louda Swart, who will be delighted to assist over email.
