Senior School Weekly News

News from Senior School this week: 23rd June 2023

Mrs Séguier

Deputy Head of Senior School

The board of governors, Mrs Greystoke, Mr Hammond, Mr Webster and myself had the pleasure of taking our older Senior students (Year 8 and Year 9) for lunch outside of School on Tuesday to celebrate all their hard work throughout the year. It was a great opportunity for members of the board alongside Mrs Greystoke to have a conversation with them over some food and in a different setting. The students really enjoyed this outing and were very grateful for it.

Thank you to all the parents and carers who attended our traditional Prize Giving ceremony this afternoon. It is always a great occasion to celebrate the pupils and recognize their efforts and achievements over the course of the academic year.

Year 5, Year 6, Year 7, Year 8 and Year 9, as well as our staff members accompanying them, are so excited about residential week next week! Whether they are heading to Cornwall or France, the weather looks very promising for next week, and they will have a fantastic time.

I wish you all the best for the weekend.

Prize Giving Ceremony and Cultural Assembly

Friday is a real day of celebrations at Abercorn with our annual Prize Giving ceremony taking place at RIBA in the afternoon.

We also spent the morning celebrating diversity in our assembly looking at cultural outfits from around the world. Miss Bhandari explained the many ways we encounter diversity in our school, how wonderful it is to be such a diverse school community, and the importance of celebrating these differences.

We were so fortunate to have pupils from Upper and Senior taking part to proudly showcase their traditional dress from their country of origin. We had thirteen different nationalities feature in our assembly!

A huge thank you to our cultural models!

Miss Bhandari
