Student Visas

Abercorn's warm welcome and understanding of some of the complexities of an international move can make all the difference as you start to consider your options for your children when planning your move to London.

Abercorn School is licensed to sponsor pupils under the Child Student route. We are therefore authorised to issue Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) to enable international applicants to apply for their Child Student visa.

Each international family is asked if sponsorship is required at the time of registration. All applicants must go through the school’s standard registration process and admissions tests (where applicable) before the offer of a place can be considered.

Applying for CAS at Abercorn

When to request a CAS

You can request a CAS within 3 to 6 months of your child’s course start date, depending on whether you are applying from inside or outside of the UK,  if you have already:

  • Signed and returned the school’s Acceptance Form

  • Completed the school’s Child Student Visa Form

  • Paid the Deposit fee to secure a place

What you need to know

  • To accept and secure a place the school must receive a completed Acceptance form, the full Acceptance Deposit and one year’s fees in advance.

  • A CAS can only be applied for one year’s fees in advance once an offer of place has been accepted.

  • The cost for your child to be sponsored will be £500 per term, which can be added to your child’s fees. See Termly Fees.

  • In the event that your visa is refused, the school will refund your deposit and school fees paid, less an administrative charge of £500.

  • Abercorn School is able to sponsor a child for a maximum of 6 years at one time, but may be renewed upon expiration.

  • UK Visas and Immigration do not issue ‘Parent of a Child Student’ visas beyond the child’s 12th birthday.

  • There is a healthcare surcharge to be paid whilst making your visa application; the exact amount can be calculated on the UKVI website.

  • It is the school’s duty as a Child Student Visa Sponsor to notify UKVI within 10 working days if a child is withdrawn from their study prior to the date specified on the CAS or, if a child misses 10 consecutive days of school and the school wishes to withdraw the child from their study.

  • If a Child Student visa pupil will be cared for by their parent on a Parent of a Child Student visa, the school must notify UKVI through the SMS within ten working days if there is any change in the care arrangements for the child.

  • Records kept on file by the school relating to your child’s sponsorship will be destroyed 12 months after your child’s sponsorship has ended or less if a compliance officer has checked the files and advised that they can be destroyed.

Upon securing a place at Abercorn School parents/guardians will be asked to complete the school’s Child Student Visa Form to help us aid the visa application.

Information required by the School to begin a CAS application
