Nutrition and Health

School Lunch

At Abercorn we are committed to providing our pupils with a balanced choice of food which is both nutritious and delicious, and we pride ourself on the quality of our catering.

Our staff work hard with the pupils to establish a positive attitude towards food, encouraging them to try new things and educating them on the importance of a balanced diet.

We work with Holroyd Howe, one of the UK's leading contract caterers for independent schools, to deliver healthy and varied menus each week. The onsite catering team prepare meat and vegetarian options every lunchtime, with a salad bar, and plenty of fresh fruit, homemade yoghurt with fruit compote and desserts.  Together, we are proud to have been awarded the European Food Standards Agency top rating.

There will always be members of staff on hand to help children while they are choosing and eating their meals. We routinely cater for halal, gluten and dairy free diets and are a nut-free school. If your child suffers from any allergies or has any dietary requirements, please do let us know.

Snacks

All pupils (apart from half-day Nursery pupils) enjoy hot lunches each day prepared by our catering team. Pupils have the opportunity to eat a snack during their morning break time. Healthy snacks of fruit/vegetables should be brought in daily, along with a water bottle. Additional snacks can be eaten at the end of the school day before attending any extra curricular clubs.
