Christopher Hammond
Headmaster
Mr Christopher Hammond was appointed Headmaster of Abercorn School in September 2020.
With a pedigree spanning some of the leading private schools in London and the Home Counties, including Hereward House, Maltman’s Green and most recently as Headmaster of Lyonsdown Prep School, Mr Hammond has a respected reputation as an experienced educator who cares passionately about the progress and well-being of all the pupils in his care.
Mr Hammond read History at the University of York, before attaining a PGCE from the University of Bristol. He has worked in both the state and independent sectors during his career, and taught children from Pre-Prep to A-level. Mr Hammond held a variety of roles before moving to headship, including Head of IT, Head of Games, Director of Studies and Deputy Head and is also an experienced ISI inspector.
In his spare time, Mr Hammond is a keen runner and plays hockey for Hampstead and Westminster. He lives in North London with his partner, Sharita, who is an actress and teacher and their daughter.
Christopher is the School’s Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
Qualifications: BA(Hons) in History, PGCE, QTS
