Matthew Webster
Director of Studies and Head of Humanities
Matthew Webster is the Director of Studies and Academic Lead for Upper School, as well as being our Head of Humanities.
Matt has been part of the Abercorn family since 2010, originally as a Teaching Assistant. Matt studied History at Bristol University before completing teacher training at the Institute of Education (IOE) at University College London (UCL).
Matt became a class teacher at Abercorn in 2017 before taking on the Head of Humanities role for Prep pupils in 2019. Matt believes both History and Geography can teach children to make meaningful and worthwhile choices about the kind of environment or world they want to live in while building rational, curious, tolerant and investigative pupils.
He joined the Academic Leadership Team in 2020 with a teaching philosophy built on positive relationships with pupils, parents and staff, engaging environments, high quality and creative planning, routes to life-long learning and fervent enthusiasm.
Matt is a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL).
Qualifications: BA in History, QTS
