French Specialist

Ms Constant plays a key role in our Languages Department, encouraging children to explore and enjoy the French Language.

Ms Constant studied English language, civilisation and literature at Bordeaux University in France, and whilst doing her degree, took part in a language assistant program organised by the British Council, spending a year in Birmingham in two secondary schools supporting students in their learning of French and more specifically preparing them for their GCSE exam. During that year, she developed her love of teaching and decided to stay in England where she completed her PGCE the following year at King’s College London. Ms Constant initially taught in secondary schools but, when she experienced teaching in primary schools and early years settings, she realised that she had found the perfect environment with a most receptive and enthusiastic audience.

As a teacher, Ms Constant enjoys having the chance every day to be invited into her pupil’s worlds filled with spontaneity, inquisitiveness and playfulness. This never fails to remind her that humour, interaction and adaptability is essential in teaching. Ms Constant enjoys delivering practical activities and topics close to children’s interests so that they feel encouraged to express themselves confidently in a positive fun environment.

Ms Constant aims to immerse our young learners into the language as much as possible, and is rewarded when pupils spontaneously address her in French outside the French classroom. As a teacher she can think of nothing more rewarding than to hear the that language travels beyond the classroom to become a lively and organic experience for the children.

Qualifications: Bachelor in Languages, Litteratures and Foreign Civilizations (Specialisation English) (University of Bordeaux), PGCE (French with German), QTS
