Darren is a computing specialist at Abercorn School who enjoys encouraging project based learning and enquiry.

Originally from Australia, Darren has taught at International schools in Japan and the Philippines. Darren joined Abercorn as Head of Computing in Autumn 2017.

Prior to Abercorn, working abroad extensively, Darren began to understand for importance of the Internet and communication on a global scale. Bringing technology into the classroom, Darren realised its tremendous capacity to engage, excite and improve student learning.

Darren is inspired by the work of Dr John Hattie and his theories on making learning visual. He is particularly interested in his extensive research in the field of education and contributions to improving student learning. Darren enjoys exploring real life examples with pupils and studying industry leaders such as Elon Musk and the Tesla electric vehicle and the impact of such technologies on sustainable practices.

As a teacher, Darren brings a Project Based approach to learning and enjoys encouraging pupils to explore and create projects and maker tasks.

Qualifications: PGDip in Computer Education, Master of Information Technology in Education, QTS
